Twins Only Offered Santana a Four Year Extension

This just keeps getting more confusing. A few days ago, it was repoted that Santana was offered five years and $93M, to begin the '09 season. Now, it was only a four year offer worth $80M. The other year and $13M would be Santana's '08 salary. Then, it was rumored that Santana made a counter offer of $126M, over a believed five years. $25.2M a year by my incredible math skills. That's a lot of dough. That $5M or so a year, over the five plus years wanted could be the difference.

The option that is looking a little bit more enticing, is to trade Santana around the time of the Winter Meetings. The bounty for Santana would be sky high. Possibly beyond Miguel Cabrera territory. Atleast two blue chip prospects, and one or two top prospects. The usual Red Sox, Yankees, Angels and Didgers come up. All the teams with the best prospects of course.
