White Sox Trade Jon Garland For Orlando Cabrera

The White Sox made a move today sending P Jon Garland over to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California for Orlando Cabrera. The appears to be a fairly even swap. It makes sense for the Angels because they have Brandon Wood, Erick Aybar, Chone Figgins, and Maicer Izturis who can play short. Or is this a trade to make room for Miguel Cabrera? The Angels can boast their pitching rotation with the addition. They already have John Lackey, Kelvim Escobar, Jered Weaver, Joe Saunders and Ervin Santana, so Jon Garland is just icing on their big cake.

I don't see this being a great decision for the White Sox. They already signed Juan Uribe, who will play at short or maybe second. Does this acquisition set up a Joe Crede trade? The White Sox rotation is down to Mark Beurhle, and Javier Vazquez, with a mess of Jose Contreras, Josh Danks, and maybe Gavin Floyd or Gio Gonzalez. I'd say that the Angels did a bit better in this deal.
