Odds and Ends

Looking around today.
  • The Mets deal with Torrealba might have backfired because of the catcher's shoulder problems.
  • The Yankees like Francisco Cordero as their Plan B closer if the Mariano Rivera talks fall though.
  • The Twins don't want to bring back Corie Koskie for another try, although the team needs an upgrade at third.
  • The A's have lost their interest in Barry Bonds. Bonds' trial date may force him to miss regular season time.
  • The Rangers talked to the Mariners about 1B/LF/RF Ben Broussard. The Mariners probably aren't looking to pay Broussard more than the $3.55M he made last year to be a backup. Although he did get some crucial playing time when Richie Sexson, well sucked.
  • Aaron Rowand may be looked at more intensely than Torii Hunter. Rowand wants 5/$60M, while Hunter wants 6/$90M. Hunter is a much more proven player with a lot of skill, but is two years older than Rowand.
  • The Cubs like Luis Castillo and Kaz Matsui to play second next year.
