Mets, Rockies and Santana

  • The Mets are looking for a top pitcher. Joe Blanton, Jon Garland, A.J. Burnett, Dontrelle Willis, Jose Contreras, and even Erik Bedard and Jake Peavy could be trade options. The Mets are also interested in Carlos Silva, and have some money so signing him is an option.
  • Johan Santana has been rumored to be staying with the Twins, traded, staying with the Twins, traded, and now somewhere in the middle. Trading Santana is an option. But keeping him and making a run next season is still an option. The Yankees are still very interested in Santana. It's known that the Yankees don't wan to part with Joba, Phil or Ian. If one of those names are unavailable, than the Twins may just say no.
  • The Rockies are looking to make Matt Holiday a serious offer, that would cover his first two years of free agency. Four years and $60M has been thrown around. Todd Helton probably won't be traded. His current $16.6MM salary is a big issue, but Helton is finally on a winner and probably won't want to leave. The Cubs may move on from Kaz Matsui and Yorvit Torrealba if their offers are beat.
