Cubs Bring Back Wood

The Cubs have brought Injury prone reliever Kerry Wood back to close for '08. One year worth $4.2M garunteed, with up to $3.45M in incentives. No options on this deal. I'd say that it would be pretty tough to find a reliever with the upside that Kerry Wood has for one year and no option. The $4.2M is a bit of a risk considering Wood's injury history. Wood is believed to be the team's new closer, bumping Ryan Dempster to the starting rotation.
