Braves Offer $7M to Glavine

The Braves have made a one year $7M offer to free agent pitcher Tom Glavine. It's believed that Glavine has made a counter offer, and a deal is expected to be done shortly. With Glavine the Braves will have a lot of pitching depth with John Smoltz, Tim Hudson, Tom Glavine, Chuck James, Mike Hampton, Jair Jurrjens, Jo-Jo Reyes, and Buddy Carlyle, who all could pitch in the Bigs next season. Trading one of the pitchers noted would make some sense. The Braves almost have a Yankees situation with a hadful of blue chip pitching prospects, who could get them a lot, but don't want to lose them. With John Smoltz and Tom Glavine looking to be on the last legs of their career, and Tim Hudson and Mike Hampton have had injury problems in the past, so too much pitching depth is a good idea at this point in time.
