Offseason Agenda: Cleveland Indians

The Indians are coming off of an AL Central title. Too bad the team lost to Boston in the ALCS. The Indians are a very good team with an excellent young core. Don't expect too much from them in the offseason.

Pitching
The Indians have a really nice rotation lead by 19 game winners CC Cabathia and Fausto Carmona. Both are Cy Young candidates. You can expect more of the same from the aces next season. The rest of the rotation is still pretty good. Paul Byrd and Jake Westbrook are good pitchers. Not as good as Sabathia and Carmona, but still good middle of the rotation guys. Aaron Laffey got a achance last year, and may be given a job this year. Added a veteran starter/reliever type would be a good idea.

The bullpen was lead by a 45 games saved from closer Joe Borowski. Rafael Betancourt and Aaron Fultz aren't half bad relievers. The rest of the bullpen will be decided in Spring Training. If the Betancourt/Borowski combo works again, and some depth is added, the Indians will have a very nice bullpen in '08.

Infield
Around the horn looks pretty good. Casey Blake and Jhonny Peralta look good on the left side, but the right side is a mess of options. Ryan Garko is a good 1B who can hit pretty well. Josh Barfield and Asdrubal Cabrera will probably split time or battling for the staring job at 2B. The Indians best hitter came from their catcher, Victor Martinez. V-Mart will be back next season behind the plate, and should continue his strong play. DH Travis Hafner only hit 24 HR last season but still put up 100 RBI. A few more HR's out of Hafner would help, but isn't a must. 25 HR from a DH is still pretty good.

Outfield
Led by CF Grady Sizemore, the outfield is good, but needs some cleaning up. Kenny Lofton is a FA and likely won't be back. Franklin Gutierrez is a good young RF with some potential. Jason Micheals and Ben Francisco aren't bad off the bench options, but probably should stay that way. One outfield addition would be a great help, ot two if Franklin Gutierrez isn't what he could be. One could be Kenny Lofton if he doesn;t retire. Milton Bradley is another option.

Prognosis
The Indians have a very good team. No doubt about that. Expect for them to continue to dominate next season and possibly beyond.
