Report: Twins Make Offer to Santana

More of a rumor than a report is that the Twins have made an offer to Johan Santana for 5/$93M, starting in the '09 season. $18.6M a year for Santana is believed to be below the market value for him. If Santana reaches free agency after next season, it's believed that he could get north of $20M annually. Santana will be 29 in '08. Santana is argueably the best pitcher in the games of baseball right now, so it makes sense that his paycheck reflects that.

The Red Sox, Dodgers, Mets and Yankees have shown somewhat serious interest in trading for the pitcher.
