Padres Want to Extend Peavy

NL Cy Young winner Jake Peavy is looking to be extended by the Padres. Peavy is under contract for $6.5M in '08, and $11M in '09. Peavy's value on the open market would get $18M annually. The Padres will probably not give him that. An extension for 2010-11 worth around $34M would probably do the trick. Peavy is putting up amazing numbers at a very young age. If he continues to improve, his salary could get past $20M within the next couple of years.
