Free Agent Profiles - Catchers

I'm starting a profile for the free agents available this winter. I'll start with catchers:

Jorge Posada - An outstanding season should earn Posada a real nice contract. A very nice .338/.426/.546 (AVG,OBP,SLG) line and complimented it with 20 HR and 90 RBI. Atleast a 3/$40M contract. Rumors about NYY or NYM throwing four years and $56M or more aren't false, but they might not be true.

Michael Barret - Barret is a pretty good catcher who could easily get a good two or three year deal worth around $6M. Or he'll end up as a backup/platoon catcher somewhere. Still, he is a half decent catcher.

Ramon Castro - Castro only managed 52 games last season with the Mets. He put up a .285 average with 11 HR and 31 RBI. If he gets a bit more playing time, than maybe he can excell. Don't be surprised to see him end up on some cheap team as a starter.

Paul Lo Duca - Lo Duca is probably the next best catcher option after Posada. in 119 games last season he hit .272 with 9 HR and 54 RBI. He could easily get a nice multiyear contract from a team for about $6-7M a year. If the Mets don't get Posada, than look for them to resign Lo Duca.

Jose Molina - Molina has been a career backup, and shouldn't expect a starter's job in '08. Molina has never topped 80 games in a season, and hasn't put up much in the form of offensive production. His defensive skills are pretty good though.

Yorvit Torrealba - Torrealba has become one of the better catchers in baseball. His play in Colorado last season should earn him a nice two or three year deal worth around $5M per. The Rockies have said that they would like to bring him back.
