Odds and Ends

A few intersting details from today:

• The D-Backs could try shopping Jose Valverde. He is at very high value right now, and will only cost them more money.
• The A's may decide to shop pitchers Dan Haren and Joe Blanton. The Mets would be the most interested team.
• The Cubs would like to re-sign Kerry Wood and give him the closer job, moving Ryan Dempster into the rotation.
• The Cubs are also looking into OF's Kosuke Fukudome, Coco Crisp, Raul Ibanez and Carl Cawford.
• The Phillies won't focus on 3B, but rather put money towards pitching. They would like to add JC Romero. Maybe trying to trade for Jon Garland or Jose Contreras?
• Update on Schilling's deal, one year and only $8M garunteed with $2M in incentives. It would've made more sense to exercise is player option for $13M.
