White Sox to Meet With Torii Hunter

White Sox GM Kenny Williams is planning on meeting with FA CF Torri Hunter at some point in the next week. No contract terms can be talked, although there probably will be a dollar amount or two thrown around. The plan is to convince Hunter to sign with Chicago in a couple weeks. JD Drew money, five years and $75M would be close to the bottem of what Hunter will take, or his agent will tell him. A huge commitment for a guy coming off of a career year, but the Sox seem prepared to do that. Aaron Rowand could be the consolation prize. Both are type A FA's, but Chicago's #8 pick is protected.

The possibily of David Eckstein coming to the South Side has held off the Sox from exercising Juan Uribe's $5m option for '08. Signing Eckstein and moving Uribe to 3B is an option too.
